We
did it!
Oh, What a Night!
We
are thrilled and elated. We said, "Roe Roe Roe Your Vote for Issue 1" and Ohio did just that, passing Issue 1, The Right to Reproductive
Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety amendment!
We know that this victory would not have been possible without the energy and resolve of many
dedicated volunteers from the CDWC and many partner groups. We are truly grateful for every signature collected, every
phone call made, every postcard written, every donation given, every door knocked, and every conversation with family, friends,
neighbors, and co-workers. Together, we demonstrated our power to make change. Despite the opposition's efforts - the special
August election, the misleading ballot language, the purging of voters, and the relentless stream of lies and disinformation
- we prevailed. Your determination and relentless devotion to protecting our rights led to our success.
While there are challenges ahead,
the future for Ohio women is brighter today. We deserve to celebrate this historic moment.
We also extend our congratulations
to the CDWC-endorsed candidates who won their races yesterday, and acknowledge those who worked hard, but did not fully succeed.
We thank you for running.
Let's also take special note of Beachwood and Fairview Park, where the election of four women
candidates in both cities will create first-ever majority-female city councils. And, special special congratulations to Troy
Greenfield for her election as the first woman of color to serve on Fairview Park City Council.
